Today we tried a new thinking routine called 3-2-1 Bridge. It was new for all of us, but it went really well! We began by brainstorming words that we associated with the wardrobe in
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Several examples were a tunnel, a mystic portal, a train, a time machine, and a wormhole. We then generated questions about how our words fit together. Finally, we "built our bridge" by writing a simile to connect our ideas. Here is an excerpt from 4C's bridge. Great job painting a picture with your words!
The wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is like a stairway, wormhole, or time machine to Narnia. The wardrobe transports the Pevensie children into a lost, once-discovered land. A stairway, wormhole and time machine are pathways to different places like bridges over a ravine or chasm. The wardrobe in the book takes the children from the real world to Narnia and back from Narnia to the real world. A stairway is a path from one place to another, and a wormhole shoots you to a new place. Narnia is frozen in time, so the wardrobe is like a time machine that takes the children to a mythical world where time stands still.
